Hard Tonneau Bed Covers Untangled

July 2, 2009

The popular pickup truck roll-up tonneau cover is the least expensive. It’s attached with clamps or if you use snap downs, requires some light drilling. They can be simply folded up and stored in bed or backseat.

There are various styles of tonneau covers. There is the roll-up tonneau cover kind, the retractable tonneau cover, fiberglass tonneau cover and a folding tonneau cover. Also there is the aluminum and “drop down” truck bed cover.

Roll-up tonneau covers for pickup trucks are the cheapest in cost and are popular. They are attached with clamps and some may require a little drilling to install. This may not be the best choice if you live in a high crime area as your valuables will not be protected. However, the tonneau covers take up little space and you can easily roll them up and set them aside.

Tonneau Covers that are retractable give you the ability to transport larger things without having the cover removed from the bed. It does take up some space in the front of the bed for the cover container but it is a good value all around.

Fiberglass Tonneau Covers are heavy but are completely rainproof. In order to transport large objects, you would have to remove the cover and that would require some effort. You can expect the cover to weigh 150 pounds and they are usually painted to go with the color of the truck.

Folding Tonneau Covers: Are a good value as an alternative to expensive retractable or solid tonneau covers. They may leak a little water into the bed because of the way they are constructed. Their security and durability come at a fraction of the weight and cost of a fiberglass cover!

Aluminum Tonneau Covers: Highly engineered gives the flexibility of having a hard tonneau and the ability to haul larger objects without removing the cover from the bed. These type covers will sacrifice some space for storage canister at front of bed.

Retractor Type “Drop Down” Truck Bed Covers: These are new to the scene of bed covers. They allow access to the truck bed without removing the aluminum cover. The retractor can be locked down every 12 inches if needed.

286 HP1996 Impala SS

July 2, 2009

Two years ago a brand new 1996 BBB Impala SS crossed my path, since then my mind has not been able to get it off my head. My dream came true four weeks ago, A Dark Green-Gray Metallic Impala SS with only 69k on the odometer was sitting in the lot of a dealership 80+ miles away from my home.

I only have a cold-air-induction installed and can easily pull away from 3rd generation corvettes. I attend a monthly Sonic car show and I get a lot of compliments. When opening my car door to go for a drive, I get a wonderful feeling, which is hard to explain. I also kind of have a camaraderie to my car’s body like other proud owners of 1994-1996 B type body owners.

My Impala is currently stock with the exception of the cold air intake. This however does not stop me from pulling away easily during street races. This is illegal and should not be done at all, though I did beat a Corvette.

Yes I like this car, yes this car is fast but is it really that important to anyone? For people looking to buy this car, they want to know the negatives so that is what this review will be about. Just remember I do really love this car.

The Impala Squeaks and it is a known problem so there is no denying it. This does not mean the Impala has a serious problem. The problem really is that it is really annoying. Some people have come up with ways to fix it or make the squeaks a little less loud.

I never actual hear someone talking about what the hate about their ride. Yes I love the Impala and yes I would recommend for you to buy it but it does have some negatives and that is what this review is about.

You can get a performance increase by K and N for about 150 dollars and this will boost your Impala’s horsepower by 26. Another thing is this is a car, and as all cars do it has it’s own problems. These problems are different for each cars.

It is really difficult to name one make and model that comes problem free. Cars have problems with their radiators, engines, pumps and wires. One thing for sure is that these problems are corrected over the years.

Buying a Steering Wheel Cover?

July 2, 2009

An odd purchase at any time might be a Steering Wheel Cover, but these things are not just decorative, they can also enhance your driving experience by giving you a better grip on the steering wheel and stopping the wheel from becoming damaged over time.

Going shopping for a steering wheel cover provides many more choices than the average person would think. Remember this, and then keep in mind that you need to have some sort of plan before rushing out and making your purchase. In truth, there are many different prices and styles to be seen in steering wheel covers.

So, how can anyone find the right cover for their vehicle? Follow these steps and the perfect cover at the right price should present itself:

Make sure that you have a goal set in your mind as far as the price goes. The prices can be extremely high (after all, it is just a steering wheel cover) and range from $5 to over $35. To ensure that you do not buy an overly expensive steering wheel cover, set a price range for yourself before you even leave the house. The prices will vary depending on the types of materials used and the price will not necessarily reflect the quality of the steering wheel cover.

You will find that not all steering wheel covers are adequate for the wheel of your car; therefore you have to measure your wheel, including the diameter and the circumference. If this is too much for you, then you could just write down the model and make of the car and take that with you when you shop.

Have a look at the variety of materials you can buy. Steering wheel covers can be composed of several different materials, and there are some exotic ones too (such as sheepskin, leather, or wool). Every cover comes with benefits, for one, cloth keeping the wheel cooler. On hot and sunny days leather covers can get extremely hot, making those first few miles excruciating. If you have a problem with grip, you can get a suede steering wheel cover to improve it. These high end materials will, of course, cost a bit more money.

Pick the color ” Steering wheel grips are available in just about every color under the sun. Many people choose to go with very neutral colors like brown, tan, beige or black. Still, it is more than possible to find an exact match for a vehicles interior. Do keep in mind that color can have an impact on heat absorption or reflection. If a hot steering wheel is motivating the purchase of a cover, black might not be the best choice.

Do consider the grip ” Plastic steering wheels that are smooth by design can be very difficult to hold on to during the winter months. Covers can solve this problem, but they need to offer a good grip. Cushioned, textured grips should reduce driving fatigue and help drivers keep a better handle on the road ahead.

Steering wheel covers can be found in a number of outlets. When it is time to buy, these accessories can generally be located in online auto boutiques, through dealerships, from upholstery shops and other similar outlets.

Learn The Strategies On How To Negotiate a Car Lease

July 2, 2009

Anyone can learn how to negotiate a car lease the correct way. First, you must know that you can do it. Debate the price, if you are going to negotiate, if you don’t you will end paying much more than necessary. There are plenty of people who would like to do this, but they do not know that its an option that is available or allowed, so they just forget about it or don’t consider it.

In recent years it has become a lot more popular than in the past. The first step you need to learn with this process is whether or not you should be looking at this as an option. Reason being, depending on the situation you are in, it may be a better option for you than to buy.

Now maybe you need to keep your options open because you don’t know what your situation truly will be in the upcoming year, if this you, then this may be a pretty good option for you. But, perhaps you are one of those persons who have a tendency better yet a pattern of buying a new car every 2 to 3 years, if that’s you, then you need to consider doing it. If you go this route, then learning how to negotiate should be mandatory for you.

In reality, everyone should reach a point in their lives, where they know how to debate cost, because this skill will come in handy, especially with automobiles. When dealing with price of a vehicle, two basic skills are a necessity, determination and knowledge.

With this situation, knowledge is a more important factor than determination. The main piece of information is the ‘MSRP’ or manufacturer’s suggested retail price. The ‘MSRP’ is the price to charge for a vehicle, it’s set for the dealership by the auto company. It’s nothing to stress over, just perform a search on Google, Yahoo, etc. and you can easily find it.

As soon as you figure out the MSRP, you have a basis to start your bargaining process with the dealer. To determine a monthly payment, the biggest factor is the agreed upon value of the car, which the dealer divides by the length of the lease.

It’s obvious the dealership is gonna try to get the most profits they can get, so they are going to set the value as high as they can. Never let the dealer use a number that is higher than the MSRP, under no circumstances!

At this point, your determination and knowledge will now gel together. Follow your first instinct, stick to your price that you have set. When the dealer tries to sell you all of the extra features and bells and whistles, that you don’t need nor want, deny him every time. He may even try to get a little pushy, but stand your ground.

With proper preparation and research, this part of the process will not be that difficult. In fact, you may even find it fun. Remember, the power is yours, you’re the one with the golden egg. Before you sign anything, make sure you have the best bargained price you can possibly get.

Shop around, and make sure you take your figures to each dealership that you go to. This will not only help you to become more comfortable, but it will also give you the leverage you need in this process. Stick to your guns, hold your ground and you will find a great deal for sure.

These are just the basic tips and advice about how to negotiate a car lease to save you money. Make sure to do a little more research and preparation and you will do well. Remember, the dealer needs you, it’s not the other way around. If you don’t allow yourself to be tricked or bullied into a corner, you will get the vehicle you want for the price you want.
