The Benefits Of One Way Car Rentals

July 26, 2009

A lot of car rental businesses offer one way car rentals that give us the alternative of driving to our end and then simply turn the rental car back over to the company we rented it from.

If you need to move the house, renting one way car rental can save you a great deal of time and money, or maybe you are going across the country of going to visit another state and need to hire a vehicle to reach your destination but then you do not need the car to go back.

One way car rentals are a deal you make with the rental company. The rental company will put some restrictions, which you will have to adhere to.

You can pay one-way car rentals you make with either a big deposit or a major credit card. The good thing is that, any deposit you set down will be returned to you once you turn the car back over to their company.

Not every rental company offers one way car rentals, so you may have to do a bit of footwork to find one who does in your area.

Many countries around the world offer one-way car rentals. While in the Mexico, Canada and United State, they certainly are readily available.

It is not uncommon you are allowed to pick up your rental vehicle the same day that you book. You can easily book your car rental online, and 24 hours a day.

Beware of hidden expenses when you make one way car rentals. Remember that no matter where you drop the car off, that the company is going to have to return the car to the original place that you picked it up.

For this, of course, costs time as well as money and the car rental company is going to pass that cost onto you in some form or another.

You can get lucky and find a company that offers free drop-off rates if you check around well. Be sure to carefully read the rental terms before purchasing any rental car.

Beware if you get a deal that sounds to be too good to be true. Unfortunately, there a lot of scam care rental sites on the internet. So, make sure to check for their phone number as well as location and address of the car rental company.

Renting a car is easy. Just remember to thoroughly check out the company before paying. Just take some time to shop around a bit before committing to a company to find the lowest rate possible.

Electric Autos: The New Generation Of Transportation

July 26, 2009

Within the next year electric cars, or zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) as they are sometimes called, will be an everyday sight on roads right across the world. The stuff of science fiction movies will have have become science fact.

Basic ZEVs are already available to consumers in some places and are due to become significantly more sophisticated and widespread in the next few years.

The idea of an electric vehicle is nothing new, it has been around for a number of years. However, the urgent need to reduce carbon emissions in the fight to slow global warming has sped up the development of this next generation of road transport.

Consumer electric cars and ZEVs are already being made and will soon be widely available in car dealers around the globe. We are already familiar with hybrid vehicles, which have been in existence for a few years. These cars use both electric and gasoline propulsion to aid in the reduction of emissions. Electric vehicles take clean motoring to a higher level, in that they have no emissions at all – they don’t even have a tail pipe. The benefits of this are likely to be dramatic, especially in polluted urban areas, as electric vehicles and ZEVs become commonplace.

So how does the electric vehicle function? Electric vehicles use electric motors and motor controllers in place of the standard internal combustion engine. Rather than traditional gasoline, these vehicles are propelled by electricity from battery packs, although modern methods of energy storage are being developed that are likely to replace battery packs in the not too distant future. Even now, special refueling stops for the electric vehicle revolution are springing up on roadsides around the globe where car owners can pull in and refuel their electric cars, just like at a normal filling station.

However, for a lot of people, the transition from the usual gasoline car that we all know and love to electric cars and ZEVs will require a significant leap of faith. However, electric vehicles have so many advantages that the transition should be a pretty painless one.

Running costs – The fact that electric cars are cheaper to run and cost less to keep on the road will likely win over their most steadfast detractors. Car owners will get far more miles for their dollar and the expense of maintaining these vehicles will be a lot cheaper than servicing a normal car.

The environment – As electric vehicles become more common, the advantages to the environment will be very significant. This is especially true in large densely populated areas where smog and air pollution at street level presents a significant health hazard to people.

A few concerns do remain over electric vehicles, such as the length of time it takes to recharge battery packs, the top speeds and acceleration of the cars, and concerns such as handling and performance. However, as car manufacturers pump more and more resources into perfecting these vehicles, these issues are likely to be dealt with sooner rather than later.

Tips on Choosing A Used ATV

July 26, 2009

Th All Terrain Vehicle is long believed to be the wheel of choice for the rugged men who love the outdoors, But now, women and even children are now jumping to the ATV bandwagon for various reasons. Of course, the ATV is one ride that can give its rider a different kind of thrill no other vehicle can.

You might be thinking of buying one and roll into the Great Outdoors. But before you fish for your wallet, make sure you know how check the thing before you cash it out.

Before moving any further, you have to admit upfront that money is really tight these days. From an economical point of things, buying a used ATV seems to be logical. Used ATVs don’t have to mean poor quality vehicles, but still, you have to do some mechanical check before cashing in on one.

The following are tips you need to do if you want to get your hands on a used yet fully functional ATVs:

Scan the ATV for rusts. Rusts could mean that the vehicle has been heavily used by its previous owner. if you find rusts inside and outside the gas tank, the shock mount, the A-arm mounts, and the framed intersections, be wary of the bike. You might spend more dollars for the repairs than the price you will pay for the ATV.

Test the wheels for loose ball joints and worn out wheel bearings. Raise the ATV so you could move the wheels in all directions.

Look for dirt and water in the air box. If it does contain them, it is best that you look for another ATV as presence of these two in the air box can potentially damage the ATV engine.

For 4×4 ATVs, do some inspections on the gear lube and the CV joint boots. Dont purchase the machine if the gear lubes color is chocolate brown and the CV joint boots are not in good condition. Otherwise, you’d spend thousands to repair them overtime.

Lastly, look out for the small yet important areas of the vehicle such as engine, brakes, engine oil, shutoff system, handle bars and the lights. These things better be functional if you are to buy the quad bike.

One more thing. You can command a more reasonable price if the parts functional yet old. Prices can be brought down to a more agreeable rate due to wear and tear.
