The Different Kinds of Car Paint Protection

August 26, 2009

Your car is precious to you and no doubt you will do everything you can to keep it looking new. You will also try to avoid scratches and rust wherever possible. Unfortunately you cannot guard against everything and eventually you are bound to find scratches and little rust marks. So what can you do to stop this from happening and protect your car even more? Well, one idea is to use car paint protection.

When you are looking at car paint protection, you will see that there are different kinds that you can choose from. The type you get will contain different ingredients and perform different main functions. Most of the car paint protections that you get offer more than one of these. You can get the perfect color to match your car and this is the first thing you should look at. If you get one to just cover fading, your car will look brand new. It will make it shine again and can also protect it from water and sun for years to come.

Another type of car paint protection that you can get is a waxy polish. This you can use just once and your car will be protected. Many of these products claim that you will never need to polish your car again. It also contains ingredients to stop fading, and protect the body work from rusting.

Now, one of the most important things when looking at car paint protection is to prevent scratches and scrapes. Every car gets knocked around and bumped and having a protection against this is imperative when you want a new looking car. Certain products will work wonders for protecting against crashes, doors scraping against walls, stones, and other scratches that it could sustain while you are driving.

Some of these car paint protection products are fire resistant as well for even more protection. You hopefully won’t need this one, but to have it is great just in case. If you live in an area where lots of fires occur, it could be a good idea.

Most of the products you get for car paint protection offer you money back guarantees so you know that they will work properly. You can test out one or two to make sure that you are happy with them. Everyone requires different levels of protection depending on what they drive and where they drive, so testing them is a great idea.

If you want to find car paint protection that works, you will have to ask at a local dealer. You can also search online for various manufacturers and companies that sell these kinds of auto products. There are lots of unique and great products out there that really work and that will seal the paint work on your car. You can get your car looking brand new again and never have to worry about damage. This could be rain damage, hail or snow damage, rusting, sun damage, scratches, and more.

If you have always heard about car paint protection and never done anything about it, well now is the time. It is worth it to have the protection for your car from the elements. It will prevent you needing to do any major repair work later down the line.

Are Scrappage Schemes Really Environmentally Motivated?

August 26, 2009

Many of you will already be aware of the Scrappage schemes which were recently introduced by various governments across America and Europe. These schemes offer large trade-in discounts on vehicles over 10 years old against the purchase of price brand new cars. Following completion of the deal the older vehicle has to be scrapped and in most cases crushed.

I imagine those of you that were aware of the schemes also believe what you have been told and think that they were introduced as part of your government’s environmental policy in order to reduce emissions.

This environmental angle has also been pushed by the motor trade. For example the chief executive of the UK’s Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Ltd has been quoted as saying “smaller, lower CO2-emitting cars are taking the lion’s share of registrations, which will have a positive impact in reducing emissions…”

I’m sorry to say it’s actually a load of nonsense. There is no environmental benefit to scrapping a perfectly serviceable car and replacing it with a brand new one. In fact the opposite is true as it takes more energy to produce one new car than it does to run an existing vehicle for an additional 100,000 miles.

The thing is our governments know this perfectly well. They just don’t think it’s as important as rebuilding our flagging economies and I’m not about to start a debate about which *is* more important either. All I am trying to say is that you are being sold a lie if you believe that taking part in a Scrappage scheme will benefit the environment. It isn’t a green option, it’s simply about the money.

Some people will still argue that it can’t be a bad thing if we are removing some of the appalling examples of oil-dripping, blue-smoking wrecks that occasionally blot our landscape, and lungs, when we get caught behind them. And I’d agree. But we won’t do it by offering the drivers of this type of vehicle a discount off a brand new car. If they’re driving a wreck the chances are they can’t get afford to come up with a deposit let alone the monthly repayments.

If you think about it logically you will realise that a simple discount scheme only attracts one sort of person. Someone who is already considering a purchase but hasn’t made their mind up yet. And the kind of person who is already considering buying a brand new car must have, by definition, enough money to maintain their current vehicle. Which means the car which is being scrapped in favour of the environment is precisely the type car we ought to be encouraging to ‘keep’ on the road rather than wasting energy building new ones

If you’re taking what I’ve said with a pinch of salt but are still reading this article, might I suggest you actually ask the new car dealers what vehicles they have scrapped under the scheme. I believe you won’t find very many smoking old bangers on the list.

Silverado’s rock-solid chassis makes it a favorite choice of country tough guys. When you have to travel the bumpiest dirt roads in America with a large load in the bed, you want something that can get the job done. Bragging comes second nature to Chevy truck owners. Some even brag that their truck would be handed down for generations to come. Having engine sizes and chassis capacities to haul any load, these trucks have the towing capacity to get the job done. With the technology under the hood to make it the industry leader, the Silverado’s powerful 6.6L V8 Turbo diesel can definitely haul the biggest loads in rough terrain or miles down the longest interstate highway. The cab’s rear door is able to swing open an amazing 170-degrees. For hauling things in the back seat, this makes it really easy to reach everything in the cab.

For guys who love sporty vehicles, you can’t beat the versatility of the Chevy Avalanche. What sportier truck enthusiasts love about it is that it is so flexible. Most obvious is the innovative system to make the truck bed longer. What happens is that the rear seats fold down, rear glass removes, and the midgate system drops down. Essentially it turns it from a crew cab short bed to a two door long bed pickup. After the midgate is folded down, you could even use the rear bed as a comfortable sleeping quarter if necessary. For this reason, you will discover that the Avalanche is really an outdoor adventure vehicle ready to take you to mother nature’s doorstep. Mountaineers will love it, because they can put two tents in the truck bed without having to pitch a base camp tent.

The new breed of Chevy truck can save the consumer money while also providing outstanding performance. It helps that now you can find the Chevy’s mid-sized truck running on a smaller 3. 5L I5 engine. As a model co-developed with the Japanese manufacturer Isuzu, this pick-up truck has all the much sought after features such as durability, flexibility, comfort and power all rolled into one.

Because there are times when trucks have to go long distances with a load, it was a great idea by Chevrolet to make more options for entertainment and communications. In 2008 Chevy trucks, each were equipped with CD and MP3 capable entertainment packages. Also you will find a state-of-the-art RDS compatible radio system. The latest Avalanche model offers blue tooth, navigation radio, XM satellite, and OnStar. Everything you need to stay connected to the world.

GM actually now uses a new technology that can save on gas. It is called the Active Fuel Management system. This innovative technology switches the engine from 8 cylinder to a more fuel efficient 4 cylinder mode for times when there is not much need for lots of power. The truck’s on-board computer does everything automatically as you drive to switch between the modes.

An environmental statement made by Chevy’s new truck line, is their new ability to burn cleaner E85 ethanol-blended fuel. Ethanol mix E85 is a cleaner burning fuel that releases less green house gases into the environment. Climate change is becoming an issue that the auto industry can no longer ignore and Chevrolet is truly creating an “American Revolution” in terms of changing the status quo in Detroit.

Chevy trucks these days are tough and environmentally friendly. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. If you don’t have a reliable truck, check out what Chevy is doing nowadays. You will be amazed at what they are offering in a new truck. Being tough and being smart are not different things, when it comes to buying a Chevy truck, they go hand in hand. Consider the new features and how it can improve your life… once you do that, you will be holding the keys to a new Chevy truck.
