What Is Meant By An Exotic Car
September 25, 2009
A part of life that we have all become accustomed to is the car, and although there are a few non-drivers in the country, for the most part it is fair to say, people drive. As we have become so accustomed to the luxury of being able to get into our cars and go wherever we want when we want, it looks unlikely to change in the future, despite the harm they do to the environment; however the type of car we drive, may be set to change in the not too distant future for this reason.
Cars are a huge part of our live to such an extent that a lot of people tend to judge others based on the cars they drive. If someone is seen driving around in a brand new, shiny, expensive looking car, then that person immediately seems to have more respect than someone driving an old car with a bit of rust on the body for example.
There is however, a rare type of car that few people will ever have the pleasure of being inside of, let alone driving or even owning. These kinds of cars are put under the label of exotic or luxury.
The word exotic is a word that describes things that are out of the ordinary or strange to behold, and so bearing this in mind, the term exotic cars conjures up images of twisted or otherwise odd looking body shapes with equally wacky paint jobs. What it is usually perceived to mean however is a car of the highest standard that only the richest of people could ever even dream of owning, and that are generally not put into mass production. Most exotic cars only have a small number of replicas made and are sometimes even one of a kind.
However, there are companies that put cars like this up for rent, and the better ones even do it for a reasonable price. So if youre planning on chauffeuring for an event such as a wedding or any other up-market event, then why not rent out something spectacular to complete the feel of the day?
About Drivers Ed – They Do It For High End Of Performance Cars Too
September 25, 2009
When you think about Drivers Ed the first thought is a group of teenagers learning their foundation driving information. But driver’s Ed doesn’t stop there. One of the world’s most prestigious sports car manufacturers -Porsche – offers a comprehensive drivers Ed program and has been doing so for the last thirty five years. This sounds different from driving your production Chrysler or Toyota around the streets of your home town, but in reality it is the same learning experience – but with a few perks.
Drivers all must master the basics before they are permitted to do more advanced training. It is a structured approach like any good training course.
Warm up courses focus on the basics of driving a precision car. From what seat and steering wheel positions should be to what the various components in the car do. Done in safe areas or on racing tracks the Porsche driver learns how to handle common issues such as over and under steer, emergency braking and the best method for getting through road bends. It’s just about drivers Ed, just on a different scale.
Beyond the basics is a day course that follows the warm-up where the participants spend a day on a racing track – not necessarily going for speed, but learning lines and generally improving their skills for driving.
Education on off road conditions is also offered to get the best of off-road vehicles. Learning about terrain and optimal gearing. When thinking about drivers Ed we think about a school classroom or sterile room, with Porsche the classroom might be the gulf state of Dubai with enough sand dunes to satisfy anyone.
They do the same for winter driving. Instead of just teaching the theory of snow and ice they make it real with a dedicated driving facility in the arctic conditions of Finland. Here you learn to be a safer driver and get to practice what you are taught. If you have nerves of steel you can go on to do masters courses where you drift on ice, test yourself on slalom precision courses and learn to drive downhill.
While all this sounds fun the serious message of ecological responsibility is not forgotten. Drivers are briefed on how to use certain features of their vehicles to drive more efficiently. Areas such as avoiding unnecessary acceleration on braking are taught to improve driver’s fuel consumption statistics.
And you to learn from trained professionals. They are passionate about the vehicles and come from the ranks of Porsche designers, engineers and testers. They know these cars totally. The program itself is available in many countries around the world from Japan to Brazil, from Europe to the USA.
So when thinking about Driver’s Ed don’t be fooled into thinking that you learn once and then you are set for life. The basic principles are as relevant for the new Porsche owner as they are to the 16 year old in Galveston Texas. As with anything in life we all have things to learn.
Precautions Against Driving Under The Influence
September 25, 2009
Accidents on the road are most commonly the result of people under the influence of alcohol, drugs and some medications which in turn cause a person to lose focus and concentration.
Since driving under the influence has been abhorred by the majority of states, laws have been set up that target those that commit this offense. These laws are for the protection of innocent people on the road and the driver who commits the offense and they were made with the intention of solving this long-time problem.
There are several substances that are directly associated with DUI, as driving under the influence is referred to. Alcohol is one of those substances and also the main cause of drivers not being able to handle their car as they should under normal circumstances.
Oftentimes, this happens after a night out with friends where everyone is in a good mood and shots are raised, neglecting the fact that they have to drive home afterwards.
The use of drugs such as marijuana and stronger ones such as methamphetamine is the other culprit that makes drivers lose control of their facilities. This is due to the substances causing them to be lethargic and feeling high.
The use of these types of drugs is widespread in truck drivers who travel long distances during the night. They often use drugs to keep them awake while traveling. Sometimes, the drug not only keeps them awake at night but often keeps them awake for days. While some drivers may see this practice as acceptable, others see it as beyond the necessity and an overdose of the drug that only aimed to strengthen and awaken the person for the duration of his work, but not for several days.
While it is true that there are sanctions handed down by the government to prevent persons from driving under the influence, it is also a must to set more prohibitory laws against the acquisition of alcohol or drugs especially of minors. Most number of DUI related road accidents are perpetrated by minors. More focus should be given in educating minors about the fatal consequences of DUI.
The penalty for a DUI offense depends upon the state you are in and some states have harsher penalties than others do. The common penalties include fines, suspended license and even jail time. Unlike other crimes, first time offenders don’t have a chance of avoiding the penalty. If you are caught two or more times and charged with DUI, then the punishment increases in severity and that could be higher fines, longer suspension of the driver’s license and longer jail sentences.
The authorities are being more wary of this type of offense due to the fatalities that it has brought. In a year, the accumulated number of alcohol related accidents reached more than a thousand, the reason why authorities are very diligent in apprehending persons who are driving under the influence.
People must be aware of the consequences of their actions. If you know how that you are going to drive home or some place else, then better refrain from drinking rather than believe in the myth that you have the strength of Samson to resist the effects of alcohol in your system. If you can’t resist driving, have someone drop you off at your destination, and have someone pick you up again. This may be a bit troublesome, but staying on the safe side is better than paying a fine or ending up in the gutter.
